Thanking Southern Indiana’s ‘community protectors’

JEFFERSONVILLE — Although the Vintage Fire Museum’s Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was set up nearly three months ago — prior to recent attacks on officers nationally — organizers say the time to thank them couldn’t be more relevant.

Saturday afternoon, the museum offered discounted admission and two presentations to honor local and national law enforcement. Board president Curt Peters said the inaugural event was originally borne out of some of the negativity against police in Ferguson, Mo., and Cleveland.
