Feeding the needy

The holiday season is the busiest time of year for local charities that feed the homeless and the hungry, and this year the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula finds itself among the needy. Due to a confluence of circumstances, the foodbank has been left with bare shelves and a shortfall of almost a half-million pounds of food.

After a couple of devastating storms along the Atlantic Coast, our charitable residents devoted donations to hurricane relief that might have otherwise been shared locally.
