New apartments considered above the Children’s Museum of Acadiana in downtown Lafayette

The second floor of the Children’s Museum of Acadiana is being eyed for an apartment development, a rare project to create new residential space in the core of downtown Lafayette.

The Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority, an agency that has overseen several recent developments in the downtown area, is in preliminary talks with the museum to purchase the second story of the museum and carve 15 to 18 apartments out of the space, which is now used mainly for storage.
