National Blues Museum turns 1, more work to do looking forward

The National Blues Museum turns 1 year old on Sunday, and as executive director Dion Brown puts it, the first year “has been incredibly successful, but at the same time not as successful as you would like.”

The $13 million, 23,000-square-foot downtown museum opened to positive reviews April 2, 2016. Plans for it were first announced in 2010, followed by years of uncertainty and skepticism over whether the museum would become a reality.
