Mysteries at the Museum: Money, money … money!

From now through the end of October the museum will be hosting a variety of coin and paper money items. The value of these currency items is in the places they’ve been and the stories they tell, it’s a journey I know you’ll enjoy.

The museum has a Philippine 10 Centavo bill on loan from Joseph Electric. The bill is an example of Japanese occupation currency that was issued between 1942 and 1945. When the Japanese invaded the Philippines on December 8, 1941, and subsequently occupied the majority of the archipelago by 1942, they quickly collected all the available hard currency
