Massachusetts is expanding a program that will offer discounts on admissions at cultural institutions to welfare recipients.
The deals apply to museums, theater performances and arts classes. The goal is to make the arts more affordable for individuals who would otherwise be priced out.
For example, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts will offer tickets for $3 to EBT cardholders. The typical adult admission is $25.
“This is all about inclusivity of kids to get access to things that might otherwise not be financially viable for their families,” said Department of Transitional Assistance Commissioner Jeff McCue.
